A Proud Moment for TBCC and Our Community

A Message from Khru Sam Nankani, Founder of TBCC

Over the past 16 years, Croydon has become my home — not just as a coach, but as a member of this community. Opening the Thai Boxing Community Centre (TBCC) on Drayton Road earlier this year was a dream many years in the making, and seeing the positive impact already unfolding on the Tamworth Estate fills me with pride and gratitude.

Last week, I had the honour of welcoming the Mayor of Croydon Jason Perry and Deputy Mayor, Cllr Lynne Hale, along with other community leaders, into our centre. It was a privilege to show them what we do, why we do it, and how Thai Boxing continues to transform the lives of young people right here in Croydon.

💥 Building Champions — Inside and Outside the Ring

For me, Muay Thai has never been just about producing fighters. It’s about building confidence, discipline, identity, and direction — qualities that every young person deserves, especially those facing challenges in their environment.

I have coached countless champions over the years, and soon I’ll be proudly returning as part of the England coaching team. But the greatest reward will always be seeing young people grow in strength, character, and self-belief.

🥊 Our First Boxing Ring — A Milestone for TBCC

Thanks to the generous support of:

  • Croydon Voluntary Action
  • Central & Whitgift
  • Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW Group)

TBCC now has its first ever training ring — a major milestone for our centre.

This ring is more than equipment.

It represents opportunity.

A safe space.

A platform where young people can showcase their talent and discover their potential.

🌍 The Work Continues

Seeing the Deputy Mayor recognise the difference we are making reinforces what I have always believed: community is powerful when we stand together.

TBCC is here to serve, support, and uplift Croydon’s young people — one session, one conversation, and one champion at a time.

Thank you to everyone who believes in our mission and helps us continue this journey.
