This week Gavin Barwell, MP for Croydon Central, visited the Thai Boxing Community Centre in Thornton Heath where he met with a group of young people from the Centre’s Box Office programme. During the visit he saw Michael Calunga receiving the Jack Petchey award for outstanding achievement in our community.

The Box Office is a membership club where young people, both male and female and aged from 11 years to 25 years meet in a safe and secure environment to develop their physical, social and life skills in a programme led by Jonathan More of JAM Total Sport assisted by volunteers from the Thai Boxing Community Centre.

Gavin said: “Schemes like The Box Office operate all across Croydon, and play a huge role in strengthening our community. I’m proud to live in and represent an area where so much good voluntary work is going on, with young people like Michael leading the way to make our town just that little bit better.”
